Phone Wallpaper Size and Resolution Guide

Choose a wallpaper canvas for modern phones, account for different screen ratios and keep the subject clear of clocks, widgets and cropping.

Common phone wallpaper dimensions

Screen classCanvasRatio
Full HD 9:161080 × 19200.563:1
iPhone-class portrait1170 × 25320.462:1
Large iPhone-class portrait1290 × 27960.461:1
QHD+ Android portrait1440 × 32000.450:1

These are useful starting points, not a substitute for checking the actual display. The best canvas normally matches the screen's native pixel dimensions and orientation.

Choose size without blur or stretching

  1. Read the display resolution in device or operating-system settings.
  2. Create at that resolution or larger with the same aspect ratio.
  3. Use crop-to-fill only when losing source edges is acceptable.
  4. Preview with the real clock, dock, icons or widgets enabled.

A higher-resolution file cannot restore detail missing from the source. Avoid enlarging compressed downloads repeatedly.

Composition and multiple screens

Place the focal point where interface elements will not cover it and leave extra background near crop-prone edges. For two or more monitors, calculate the combined desktop and each display offset with the multi-monitor wallpaper calculator.

Use the image ratio checker before exporting a photograph.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a fixed requirement?

No. It is a calculation or planning reference. Confirm the current destination, device, printer or platform before final delivery.

Will changing dimensions improve quality?

Not by itself. Resizing can discard or interpolate pixels; it cannot recreate genuine detail that was never captured.

Does AspectRatioZ upload my files?

No. The linked calculators process dimensions and selected images locally in your browser unless a page explicitly says otherwise.
