What does a 2:1 aspect ratio mean?
For every one unit of height, the frame has two units of width. It sits between 16:9 and 21:9 and is sometimes described as 18:9 in display marketing.
1200 × 600, 1920 × 960, 2160 × 1080 and 3840 × 1920 are exact 2:1 sizes. Aspect ratio describes shape, not quality: increasing both dimensions preserves the same composition while adding pixels.
How to calculate 2:1 dimensions

Crop, fit or resize?
Resize both dimensions proportionally when the source already matches 2:1. If it does not, filling the frame crops part of the source; fitting preserves everything but leaves unused canvas space. Never change only width or height, because that stretches the image.

Are 2:1 and 18:9 the same?
Yes. 18:9 reduces to 2:1, although 18:9 is commonly used as a display-marketing label.
Is 2160 × 1080 exactly 2:1?
Yes. The width is exactly twice the height.
Is 2:1 a standard social-media ratio?
Not generally. Some platforms accept it, but their preferred feed, story or thumbnail sizes may use another ratio.
