What does a 2:3 aspect ratio mean?
The width is two-thirds of the height. It is the portrait rotation of 3:2, the shape produced by many cameras.
800 × 1200, 1200 × 1800 and 2000 × 3000 are exact 2:3 sizes. Aspect ratio describes shape, not quality: increasing both dimensions preserves the same composition while adding pixels.
How to calculate 2:3 dimensions
Enter one known dimension above. To calculate manually, use these equations and round only the final result to a whole pixel.
height = width × 3 ÷ 2width = height × 2 ÷ 3An approximate result is normal when the chosen width or height cannot produce a whole-pixel match. For video encoding, even dimensions are often safer.
When to use 2:3
Use 2:3 when a camera image is rotated vertically or when the destination is a 2-by-3 print. A 4:5 social crop removes some height, while a 9:16 story crop is noticeably taller.
Compare it with the wider 3:4, feed-oriented 4:5 and taller 9:16.

Crop, fit or resize?
Resize both dimensions proportionally when the source already matches 2:3. If it does not, filling the frame crops part of the source; fitting preserves everything but leaves unused canvas space. Never change only width or height, because that stretches the image.

Is 2:3 the same as 3:2?
They contain the same proportions in different orientations. 2:3 is portrait; 3:2 is landscape.
What size is 2:3 at 300 PPI?
A 4 × 6 inch print is 1200 × 1800 pixels at 300 PPI. A 6 × 9 inch print is 1800 × 2700 pixels.
Does Instagram use 2:3?
Instagram can accept tall images, but its feed presentation commonly favors 4:5. Check the current destination before cropping.
