4:1 Aspect Ratio Calculator
An extreme panoramic ratio for banners, stitched imagery and specialized displays. Enter a width or height to calculate the matching dimension without stretching the frame.
Calculate 4:1
What does a 4:1 aspect ratio mean?
The frame is four times as wide as it is high. Because it is far wider than normal video, composition and legibility matter more than simply reaching the correct dimensions.
1200 × 300, 1600 × 400, 2400 × 600 and 4000 × 1000 are exact 4:1 sizes. Aspect ratio describes shape, not quality: increasing both dimensions preserves the same composition while adding pixels.
How to calculate 4:1 dimensions
Enter one known dimension above. To calculate manually, use these equations and round only the final result to a whole pixel.
height = width × 1 ÷ 4width = height × 4 ÷ 1An approximate result is normal when the chosen width or height cannot produce a whole-pixel match. For video encoding, even dimensions are often safer.
When to use 4:1
Design at the exact destination size whenever possible. Keep text large, avoid placing the subject at an uncertain crop edge, and test responsive layouts because phones may show a reduced or cropped version.
Common 4:1 pixel sizes
The table is calculated in your browser. Rows marked approximately 4:1 were rounded to the nearest whole pixel.

Crop, fit or resize?
Resize both dimensions proportionally when the source already matches 4:1. If it does not, filling the frame crops part of the source; fitting preserves everything but leaves unused canvas space. Never change only width or height, because that stretches the image.
4:1 frequently asked questions
What is 4:1 in pixels?
Any dimensions where width is four times height, such as 1600 × 400 or 2400 × 600.
Is 4:1 suitable for normal video?
Usually not for general viewing. It is better suited to banners, panoramic installations and specialized canvases.
How do I make a 4:1 image responsive?
Keep the ratio, provide appropriately sized sources and decide whether narrow screens should scale, crop or use an alternate composition.
About this calculator
The calculation runs locally in your browser and does not upload a file. Results are mathematical dimensions; confirm export, print or platform requirements with the destination before publishing. See how AspectRatioZ reviews its tools or contact us if a result needs attention.
